Dan Quinn draws reactions for his unusual Commanders shirt

Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn garnered some attention for the shirt he wore when speaking to the media at Saturday’s rookie minicamp.

Quinn’s shirt featured the standard Commanders logo and lettering, but with one notable addition: a pair of feathers that served as a clear nod to the team’s old and controversial logo. Plenty of reporters were quick to take notice of it.

Ben Standig of The Athletic was quick to note that the shirt was not an official team-sanctioned item, meaning it was likely instead purchased through an unofficial third party vendor.

There remains a sizable portion of the Washington fanbase that wants to see the team go back to the old nickname and logo, especially since it has been suggested the team could once again rebrand under its new ownership group. Owner Josh Harris has made it clear, however, that the old name is not coming back.

Still, the mere allusion to the controversial nickname and its legacy will probably get some people’s hopes up. Don’t be shocked if the team quietly has a word with Quinn about not wearing the shirt again.
